Course Overview

This course will guide through key steps to take if you are the first to arrive at a scene that requires first aid assistance.

This first-class training has been developed in partnership with First Aid experts First Response Training. Video scenarios support training materials and encourage learners to reflect on the actions they would take in real-life situations.

When you have completed this course you should:

  • Know what to do if you are first to arrive at the scene of an incident
  • Be able to assess the situation as a potential danger zone
  • Understand what is meant by AVPU
  • Know the key processes to follow and what to do for each one: Danger, Response, Shout, Airway, Breathing
  • Understand the importance of the recovery position and how to apply it

Duration

Approximately 1–2 hours. However, the learning is self-paced so the course can be completed at your leisure.

When you have successfully completed your course online, you will be able to download a certificate.

Then you can consolidate your learning with the ‘primary survey challenge’. This is a scenario in which you are at the scene of an accident and have three minutes in which to help an injured person. This is not part of your assessment - it is simply a consolidation exercise.
